KOKONI SOTA - FAQ
Why Upside-Down?
KOKONI SOTA is designed to be a quite performance monster. By mounting heavy moving part in the bottom, which lowers the centre of gravity would help improve stability, SOTA’s design achieves a close-to-zero vibration and effectively increases the stability and printing speed. Moreover, it can save support material for some models.
Frequent Questions:
Why a cylinder? Is it space efficient?
The product size is 420*420*693 mm, which is actually smaller in XY dimension compared to some counterparts with similar printing area! We actually saves space for you! (while the printer is taller)
Will printed object drop?
The short answer is "No", the printed bed has a special coating on it and it can hold for more than 4kg of object based on our experiment. Using KOKONI's slicer and with proper leveling (we have auto-leveling function), the printed object is hard to fall down!
What are your advantages compared to other printers in the same price range?
KOKONI SOTA stands out with its sleek design and low vibration (thanks to its upside-down design), ensuring a quieter operation and enhanced print quality. It features dual-color printing, allowing for vibrant, multi-colored creations from a single unit (without the need of another "AMS"). With seamless integration into phone Apps, PC software, and popular 3D CAD design programs, it offers effortless one-click printing. Discover even more capabilities that make this printer a fantastic choice for your 3D printing needs!
Spec
What is the max print size?
The max printing volume is 210*200*230mm
How bed leveling work?
The KOKONI SOTA utilizes an exclusive patented leveling method that employs current sensing instead of traditional pressure sensors, making it resistant to temperature variations. We incorporate a 16-point automatic leveling.
What is the printing speed for the machine?
The maximum moving speed for the toolhead is 600mm/s, the typical printing speed is around 200mm/s to 350mm/s (depending on the quality mode)
What is the printing precision of this printer?
KOKONI SOTA is equipped with high-precision linear rails, ball screws, and fully CNC-milled mounts manufactured to an accuracy of 0.05mm, delivering ultra-high precision in every print. The layer thickness can be chosen from 0.05-0.35mm, the typical accuracy is around 0.2mm (error), depending on the quality mode in the slicer
Is the printing bed replaceable?
Yes, to achieve better printing results, we recommended replacing the printing bed every six months.
What’s the weight of the machine?
The printer is heavier (24kg) compared to some other counterparts, makes it more stable. Be sure to put it in a stable table.
What’s the max temperature for the printing bed?
It’s 110℃
What kind of plug does the KOKONI 3D Printer use?
KOKONI 3D Printer will provide plugs for clients according to different countries.
Filaments
How many colors/materials supported for a single print?
To bring vivid and creative printing, SOTA Combo offers up to 7 materials printing at once, including mainstream filament material, during the printing process.
What material is supported?
PLA, PETG, ABS, TPU, etc. Recommend to use KOKONI official filament for better printing experience. For third-party material, user need to tweak the slicer settings manually.
How the material stored? Do I need an drying box?
We understand that drying is essential for good print quality. The KOKONI SOTA features a built-in bottom material compartment that can hold two rolls of filament and includes space for a desiccant.
When filaments run out, does KOKONI notify me automatically?
KOKONI will automatically stop printing when the filament runs out, and KOKONI App will notify that there are no more materials. We recommend checking the remaining filaments on the App before printing.
What’s the diameter of the filament?
It’s 1.75mm.

Other Questions
How does the extrusion and color changing work?
The SOTA features two remote extruders (Bowden), a filament retrieval mechanism, a multi-input and output filament selection system, and a direct extruder. The filament stored in the built-in compartment is first sent to the direct extruder via the remote extruders. During the printing process, both the remote and proximal extruders operate simultaneously. When not printing, the filament is retracted, and the retrieval mechanism automatically rewinds the filament to prevent tangling. During the color changing, the bowden extruder pulls out the old filament and feed the new filament in.
Do purging needed?
Yes, purging is still needed. But we designed a special wiper mechanism to collect the waste material in our upside-down setting. So you don't need to worry that waste material pollute the printed object.
Does SOTA offers AI detection?
Yes, we have an 1MP camera that captures the printing process for real-time streaming and also AI error detection.
What kind of motherboards do you use?
We utilize an exclusive motherboard featuring a Single-Core Microprocessor along with a Quad-Core 1.8GHz CPU and a 1.0 TOPS NPU. Our motherboard also includes a dedicated encryption chip to protect your privacy.
What kind of frame structure is the machine?
SOTA use CoreXY structure.
